THE CHALLENGES
Every building has challenges that can feel unsurmountable but with time and thought can become some of the best learning experiences. This project was challenging because of the steep incline that it was being constructed on and that it was going to be waterproofed throughout the winter. The incline proved to be the greater of the two challenges. Pilasters and massive footings required a waterproofing system that was flexible, was easily modified in the field, and the could be installed in the cold Upstate NY winters. Thankfully, Carlisle Coatings and Waterproofing had many options for the foundation walls and the underslab sections. The underslab sections had CCW Miraply H & V under the concrete slabs. On the foundation walls, the installer used CCW 861 and Miradrain 6200. All of the products tied in well to each other and do a superb job of keeping the below grade areas dry.
To keep the building operating at optimum efficiency, the CCW Barritech VP air barrier was used on the outside of the exterior gyp board. The Barritech VP has a standard version and a Low Temp version that can be applied down to 19 Degrees F. Both versions were used on this project allowing the installer to offer a non stop application of the air barrier and to keep the project moving forward.
